The life you want

Two things make a day brighter: music and the ability to let the wind your hair down. Tarpon Springs, Florida, has all these bicycles decorated downtown. Some have sunflower themes, others gaily decorated with sponges (real sponges harvested from local waters.) I saw this bike and thought, how cool. A bike represents freedom. Mobility. The salty air will greet you with a kiss in these parts, and the soul is well for it, indeed. Sunshine, good company, and no agenda for a day.

It is so true that all work and no play makes one dull and can lead to burnout. I am loving these weekend getaways from time to time.

Our weekend started at dinner last night at The Cracker Barrel. Chicken and dumplings, biscuits, and double green beans, thank you. A few gift shop purchases from a birthday gift card my daughter gave me, and we were on our way.

Today, we visited the Sponge Docks, and I did .. splurge on a real sponge. They are amazing. Tried on a mood ring. It read greenish yellow .. “you are almost relaxed,” said the card. I laughed out loud. Visited all the shops, had a delicious lunch (will write about that tomorrow.) Then headed to Sunset Beach to swim until the thunderclouds gathered. Back at the hotel, hit the heated pool, then readied ourselves for dinner and headed back downtown for an authentic Greek dinner. A sunset walk afterwards by the docks, I now find myself more relaxed than I have been in months.

There is no rooster here, and I find I remember the salty air of my childhood which beckoned me to the shore.

One thing I want to try when I head back home: making my own soap.

Good night or good morning, whenever you read this.
